Genuine vs aftermarket car screen guards in India
Some car makers sell a genuine screen guard and some do not. On 4 October 2026, Hyundai, Kia and Tata listed one on their official accessory pages, and Mahindra's BE 6 accessories brochure listed a screen guard protective film. None appeared on the other official pages we checked: Maruti Suzuki's accessory store, the Škoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and Toyota Innova Hycross accessory lists, and MG's parts and accessories page. Before you fit any guard, genuine or aftermarket, read your owner's manual: the Mahindra XUV700 manual says "Do not add another commercial optical film on to the display visible area."
Does the car maker sell a genuine screen guard?
Hyundai, Kia, Tata and Mahindra (for the BE 6) list one; the pages we checked for five other makers do not. The table shows what each maker's own page showed on 4 October 2026. "No screen guard listed" means the pages or store searches we checked showed none, not that the maker never sells one.
| Maker | What the official page shows | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Hyundai | Hyundai Mobis India lists a "SCREEN PROTECTOR (INTEGRATED)" for the New Creta in three listings, at MRP ₹999, ₹1,034 and ₹999. The pages do not say what it is made of or which screens it covers. You buy it through an enquiry to your nearest dealer. | Listing 1165, 1225, 1338 |
| Kia | Kia India lists a "Screen Protector" for the Sonet at ₹532. The page does not say what it is made of. | Kia accessories, Sonet |
| Tata | Tata's accessories catalogue lists screen guards for the music system (10 inch and 12.2 inch), the instrument cluster (9 cm) and the steering wheel. No price or model is shown beside them. | Tata accessories catalogue |
| Mahindra | The BE 6 genuine accessories brochure lists a "Screen guard Protective film". Mahindra's online accessory store could not be opened on 4 October 2026, so we could not check other Mahindra models. | BE 6 accessories brochure |
| Maruti Suzuki | No screen guard found in the genuine-accessories store's searches for "screen", "protector" and "tempered". The store does list a Jimny screen cleaner at MRP ₹349, which is a cleaner, not a guard. | "screen" search, "protector" search, Jimny screen cleaner |
| Škoda | No screen guard listed on the Kushaq accessories list or the genuine-accessories index. The closest items are a water-repellent film and a transparent trunk-sill foil, neither of them for a screen. | Kushaq accessories, Accessories index |
| Volkswagen | No screen guard listed for the Taigun on the interior or electronics accessory pages. | Interior, Electronics |
| Toyota | No screen guard among the 9 accessories listed for the Innova Hycross, or in its accessories brochure. | Innova Hycross accessories |
| MG | No screen guard listed on the genuine spare parts and accessories page. | MG spare parts and accessories |

What the Mahindra XUV700 manual says
The XUV700 owner's manual tells owners not to add another film to the display. The lines below are from section 11.12.9, "Display Maintenance & Cleaning", of the XUV700 Owner's Manual (issued January 2023, revised February 2025).
Infotainment/Cluster display is a precise electrical product and the surface is covered with soft optical film/coating. Therefore user should take necessary precaution and care for cleaning the display visible surface.
Do not try to peel off the optical film or coating on the screen, since it is attached strongly.
Do not add another commercial optical film on to the display visible area.
It is recommended to use soft and micro-fiber lint free cloth to clean the display visible surface.
Wipe gently. Do not rub, as the optical film is sensitive to scratch formation.
Display surface is not so strong for chemical agent. Glass cleaner including alkali or acid, sunscreen must not be used. Alcoholic thinner, petrol, abrading agent must not be used. This may cause discoloration or strain.
Antiseptic solution must not be used for cleaning, since it is not pure alcohol. This may cause stains and/ or discoloration.
If you own an XUV700, weigh these lines before you fit any aftermarket guard, including one from Armour Guards, and ask your Mahindra dealer if you are unsure.
What other owner manuals say about cleaning the screen
Manuals differ on cleaning, so follow the one for your car. Tata's Nexon.ev infotainment manual allows a cloth damped with isopropyl alcohol:
Use a soft, clean and dry-cleaning cloth to clean the touch screen surface. If required, use a lint-free cloth damped with a cleaning solution such as isopropyl alcohol, or an isopropyl alcohol and water solution ratio of 50:50. Be sure to follow the solvent manufacturer's precautions and directions.
Avoid spraying or spilling of cleaning solutions, perfumes, car fresheners, beverages, caustic chemicals or any liquids on the touch screen surface, as it can damage the screen or the infotainment system.
Hyundai's India owner's manual (creta.pdf, 2019 edition) rules out alcohol on the audio device:
When cleaning the device, make sure to turn off the device and use a dry and smooth cloth. Never use tough materials, chemical cloths, or solvents (alcohol, benzene, thinners, etc.). As such materials may damage the device panel or cause color/quality deterioration.
Every Armour Guards box includes an alcohol prep wipe. Because of the Hyundai line above and the XUV700 line on antiseptic solution, our install steps tell Hyundai, Kia and Mahindra owners to leave the wipe out and clean the screen with a clean, dry, soft cloth instead.
Does an aftermarket screen guard affect the car's warranty?
The warranty pages we read exclude damage caused by non-genuine parts or accessories; they do not say that fitting a screen guard voids the warranty. Hyundai's warranty policy lists these under "What is not covered", as causes of "Damage or failure resulting from":
Use of parts other than Hyundai Genuine Parts.
Any device and/or accessories not supplied by HMIL.
MG's spare parts page says:
Use of Non- Genuine Spare Parts by the customer shall be at their own risk and JSW MG shall not be responsible for any vehicle failure or other consequences in this respect.
These are the words on those pages, not legal advice. If you are unsure, ask your dealer before fitting anything.
Genuine or aftermarket: how to decide
Start with what your car maker sells and what your manual says, then compare listings on what they state, not on adjectives.
- If your maker lists a guard for your model and you prefer to buy from the dealer, the genuine part is the simple choice. Ask the dealer what it is made of and which screens it covers: the Hyundai and Kia pages do not say.
- If your maker's list has none for your car, you will be choosing among aftermarket guards. Match the listing to your model, model years and screen size.
- If your manual warns against adding a film to the screen, as the XUV700 manual does, weigh that before fitting any guard.
- Read the material in both the title and the specification table, check which screens the kit covers, and check the return rules for an opened guard.
We do not rank genuine and aftermarket guards on fit, clarity or durability: no published test compares them, and Armour Guards has not published one either.
What marketplaces showed on 4 October 2026
Marketplaces list many guards at low prices, and many describe themselves as film rather than glass. On 4 October 2026 the first results page of each search below showed:
- Flipkart, "tata nexon screen protector": 2,961 results; first-page guards ₹169 to ₹370.
- Flipkart, "mahindra xuv 700 screen protector": 1,892 results; first-page guards ₹154 to ₹575.
- Flipkart, "kia seltos screen protector": 1,459 results; first-page guards ₹167 to ₹949.
Most of the Flipkart first-page guards described themselves as "Not Tempered Glass". Prices move daily, so treat these figures as a snapshot from that date.

Shipping is free on every order in India, prepaid or COD. Unused items in their original, unopened packaging can be returned within 7 days of delivery, and the customer pays return shipping. If an item arrives damaged or does not match its listing, tell us within 3 days of delivery and we replace or refund it and pay the return shipping. On 4 October 2026 the Creta 10.25-inch guard and the Kia Sonet 10.25-inch guard were ₹490 each.
